Pearl Gunders was married to Paul Andrews Gunders. She was born about 1861, in Minnesota. Pearl was also known as Petra. Paul was born in 1862 in Norway, immigrating about 1865. Pearl and Paul were married about 1886. They had two daughters: Dorothy K.M. born about 1891, and Ilia Jane, born about 1900. In 1900, the Gunders were living at Mankato where Paul was the county auditor. By 1910, they had moved to Minneapolis where Paul was listed as working as a traveling salesman. There is no indication that Pearl had ever worked outside the home. About 1912, Pearl was listed as "widow of Paul" in the city directory. However, in the 1920 US Census, Paul is found very much alive married to Charlotte T. Allen. Charlotte was about 30 years younger. Pearl is listed as "Petra Gunders" in the 1920 US Census living in Stark County, North Dakota. Her daughter, Ilia is living with her and is working as a stenographer for an attorney there. That is the last that we find of Pearl/Petra. Ilia has been found married to Walter Hazelton and they had two daughters. Ilia and Walter died at Rochester, NY in the 1970s. Paul died in 1935 according to his death certificate. I am waiting to see if there was an obituary. I have not been able to find out when Pearl/Petra died or where. Ilia had moved back to Minnesota by the time that she married Walter. No death certificate has been found for Pearl in Minnesota nor has anything been found in North Dakota. Someone has posted information about the family on Ancestry's site, but I have not bee able to find out who posted the information.
